The price for the scanner is hard to beat and with free Amazon, this is about the most affordable scanners out there. Slim and lightweight design is also a plus. So far I have experienced only one draw back and it was a very limited depth of field.
You can not put anything with dimensions scanner and expect decent results. If the object does not touch the glass, the scanner can not focus on objects and capture the details. If you are just looking for a scanner that can be used to archive photos or artwork, this is a great choice.
The included software has enough options to fine tune control but I've been quite pleased with the results of the software using the default settings. I also scan directly into Photoshop where I can further improve the results if necessary.
What is important to note that these scanners are many strong for home users. 300+ DPI resolution is more than enough to scan photos and capture just tons of detail. If you are not a professional working in print theres just no need for a scanner that will capture 2,400 dpi. So do not look at other higher priced scanners with super high resolution think the higher the better. Chances are you will never find the need to scan something in high detail.
